Johann Josef Kerschgens macht sich als Schlossermeister selbständig und verkauft Stahl

1876

Humble beginnings

In 1876 Johann Josef Kerschgens sets up shop as a master locksmith. At his business address in Verbindungsstraße 1 – today Roderburgmühle – in Stolberg-Mühle, he also runs a hardware store and sells steel.

1905

The first steps into the future

After the death of Johann Josef Kerschgens in 1905, his sons take over the company and rename it “Gebr. Kerschgens”. They expand their father’s business and move it to a new location in Kupfermeisterstraße. The new core business of the Kerschgens brothers is iron construction. This marks the beginning of the Stolberg success story.

Divided, but not separate

The company is growing, demand is high and the interests are diverse. The Kerschgens brothers split the company into Heinrich Kerschgens Stahlkonstruktions GmbH and Kerschgens Eisenhandel KG. Josef Kerschgens becomes a general partner and his wife and children become limited partners. Kerschgens Eisenhandel KG moves into the railroad warehouse on Herrmann-Ritter-Straße.

2013

Steel meets the modern era

No longer merely a “steel trader”, Kerschgens becomes the service provider in the steel industry. The company’s modern section steel line opens up a host of preprocessing possibilities. Kerschgens quickly makes a name for itself throughout Europe. Regular upgrades to premises, machines and services ensure that the company remains up to date. What started out as a hardware business has become an industrial service provider.

2021

Felix Herbort

Under the new Managing Director Felix Herbort, the company looks to the future with the “Kerschgens 2030” positioning process. As a sixth-generation family-owned company, Kerschgens feels a responsibility to uphold the principles of fairness, reliability and sustainability – towards its own employees, its customers and the planet.

2022

The family grows

On September 1, 2022 Kerschgens becomes the new owner of Carlier Blechbearbeitungs GmbH. This enables the company to establish a new business unit that offers sheet metal working up to and including the production of entire assemblies.

2024

A strong brand

After a design relaunch, Kerschgens presents itself with a new logo and a new font. Our new, upgraded look embodies our traditions, while demonstrating our readiness to embrace the future.
