Symbolic ground-breaking ceremony: Moving forward together – Kerschgens invests in its new site

5 September 2024

We at Kerschgens Werkstoffe & Mehr are delighted to announce the forthcoming expansion of our site in Stolberg. The new building will enable us to bring our existing sites in Würselen and the warehouse in Viersen together at our headquarters in Stolberg. This consolidation will eliminate the need for internal transport and create the ideal conditions for the further economic development of our company.

We reached a significant milestone with the acquisition of the long-established company Carlier Blechbearbeitungs GmbH in September 2022. To continue growing in this sector, we require more space and are investing in new machinery and plant technology. We can best meet these requirements at our new site in Stolberg.

Our customers will benefit from an expanded range of services – the ‘Kerschgens More’ – across a larger area and from a single source. This will enable us to further strengthen our position as a reliable partner in the region.

With this investment, we are taking responsibility as a family-run business with deep regional roots, now in its sixth generation. Our new building will be designed to be energy-efficient and powered by sustainable energy sources.

“With this new-build project, we are prioritising energy efficiency and sustainability – both during the construction process and in day-to-day operations. Our commitment to environmental protection extends across all aspects of the construction project: we are using green steel and processing the steel for the building ourselves. From heating to water supply, we are planning energy-efficient solutions. Using heat pumps and photovoltaic systems, we are supplying ourselves with renewable energy in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way – and we intend to do so in the long term. A site for the future is taking shape,” explains Heinz Herbort, Managing Director of Kerschgens Werkstoffe & Mehr GmbH.

The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for our new building took place on 4 September 2024 at 3 pm at Steinbachstraße 38–40, right next to our administration building. The ceremony was attended by numerous representatives from politics, business and our company.
