100% service provider – since 1876
Kerschgens supplies a wide variety of materials and processing services to industrial customers in mechanical engineering, construction, structural engineering and metal construction, and to customers working with perforated plates. Founded in 1876 by the Kerschgens family in Stolberg, the company looks back on a long and successful history in the steel trade. These are our most important milestones:
Kerschgens is founded by J. J. Kerschgens in Stolberg-Mühle.
The management of the company passes to the founder's sons, Josef and Heinrich Kerschgens.
The company is divided into Heinrich Kerschgens Stahlkonstruktions GmbH and Kerschgens Eisenhandel KG with Josef Kerschgens as general partner.
Following the death of his father, Reiner Kerschgens becomes managing partner of Kerschgens Eisenhandel KG.
The current company premises on Steinbachstraße are developed. In the same year, Manfred Kerschgens joins the management.
Heinz Herbort, executive partner of Kerschgens, joins the company as proxy.
After five construction phases over the years, the company premises in Stolberg reach their current size. In the same year, Heinz Herbort becomes managing partner.
Acquisition of Peter Grefkes GmbH in Viersen. The Kerschgens Group is born.
Acquisition of Wilhelms Industriebedarf GmbH & Co. KG in Würselen.

Founding of the Kerschgens Stahl & Mehr branch in Bitburg. The company opens a cash and carry warehouse in Trier. Wilhelms acquires Oskar Füllbeck GmbH in Aachen, a regional company specializing in metals.
Kerschgens launches the corporate strategy "Kerschgens 2012". The strategy calls for a step-by-step rebranding of all group members until 2012 and a subsequent merger to form a single company. The entire communication of the company group will then take place under the name of Kerschgens.
Grefkes Stahl & Mehr GmbH & Co. KG becomes "Kerschgens Werkstoffe & Mehr GmbH & Co. KG" and communicates under this name.
Construction of a new KASTO high-bay warehouse in Stolberg and investment in new, more advanced crane equipment.
Wilhelms Metalle & Mehr also becomes "Kerschgens Werkstoffe & Mehr GmbH & Co. KG" and now does business under this name.
Opening of the most advanced Section Steel Center in Europe with a surface area of roughly 10,000 square meters.
The new Sheet Metal Center KF 2512 by Kaltenbach is put into operation. Kerschgens launches its Strategy 2021, which calls for a continuation of the company’s evolution from steel supplier to service provider.
The future – consolidation of Kerschgens’ position as a supraregional supplier of steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals and perforated plates. Continued extension of our service range.
