150 Years of Kerschgens: Tradition, Growth and Future from Stolberg
1 July 2026
A special anniversary marks our year 2026: we are celebrating 150 years of Kerschgens Werkstoffe & Mehr. Since our foundation in 1876 by Johann Josef Kerschgens, we have stood for reliability, innovation and a close connection to our region.
To mark this anniversary, we are reaching another significant milestone. With the completion of our new building in Stolberg, we are bringing together our existing sites in Viersen, Würselen and Aachen at a single central location. This will enable us to create more efficient processes, shorter distances and the best conditions for further growth. Thanks to this expansion, we will in future have a workshop area of around 30,000 m² and a total floor area of approximately 65,000 m². At the same time, through the acquisition of Carlier Blechbearbeitungs GmbH, we are strengthening our sheet metal working and assembly manufacturing divisions and sustainably expanding our service portfolio.
„150 years of Kerschgens stand for intergenerational responsibility, entrepreneurial courage and the continuous development of our family business.“
Today, our company is run by the sixth generation of the family: Manfred Kerschgens, Heinz Herbort, Felix Herbort and Pierre Schlüper. What began as a traditional metalworking workshop with a hardware shop has evolved into a modern service provider offering comprehensive solutions for steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals.
Combining a long-standing tradition with modern manufacturing capabilities and targeted investments, we look to the future with optimism. We are firmly rooted in Stolberg and, at the same time, well prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
